What is Decembeard and how can you get involved?

Completed Movember? Before you pick up your razor to finally shave off that ’tache, allow us to introduce the next no-shave fundraising challenge: Decembeard.

The concept is simple: you ditch your razor and let your beard grow fully throughout December.

It’s all to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK, a charity that’s facing a 40% drop in income due to the pandemic.

So, if you think you’ve got what it takes to embrace the fuzz until the new year, read on.

How can I get involved?

Bowel Cancer UK is looking for as many supporters as possible to ‘say goodbye to morning-fresh shaves and hello to full-on facial hair’.

If you’ve already got a beard, that’s okay – you can still join in by dyeing or decorating your beard, or even ditching it altogether.

Simply head to the Bowel Cancer UK website to sign up and receive your downloadable fundraising pack, which includes plenty of ideas to help with both growing your beard and raising money.

Then all you need to do is make sure people know you’re taking part, so you can get as many donations as possible – tell your family, friends and work colleagues.

You could even post a link to your fundraising page on social media so that people can donate instantly.

Why is it important?

According to Bowel Cancer UK, more than 44 people die from bowel cancer every day in the UK – it’s the nation’s second biggest cancer killer. But it’s treatable and curable, especially if it’s caught early.

At the moment, thousands of people are experiencing delays in diagnosis and treatment of bowel cancer due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK through Decembeard will help the charity to save lives, as well as improving the quality of life for people affected by bowel cancer.

Ready to channel your inner Santa Claus and let that face fuzz grow long and luscious? You can sign up here – good luck!
