Amy Schumer Legally Changed Her Son’s Name After Realising She’d Called Him ‘Genital’
“Do you guys know that Gene, our baby’s name, is officially changed?” she asked the show’s Aussie guest, Claudia O’Doherty. “It’s now Gene David Fischer. It was Gene Attell Fischer, but we realised that we, by accident, named our son ‘Genital.’”
That’s not the worst of it, btw. In an IG post, Amy pointed out that when coupled with his first moniker, Gene’s surname also sounded kind of awkward.
“Oh, like you never named your kid Genital fissure!!!!!!!” she captioned the post of herself and her husband Chris looking glum.
The baby’s OG middle name was a nod to the couple’s friend, Dave Attell, who starred with her in Train Wreck. For the record, he’s totally on board with the switch – especially, since David is also Amy’s father’s name. “So, two stones,” she joked.
“My mum was like, ‘Amy’s called her son Genital,’” Claudia said on the podcast. “And I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ And then, she was right.”
At least someone was savvy enough to pick up on the funny faux pas.
