Mum buys 'one size fits all' veneers for £3 but they're too big for her mouth
We’ve all made online purchases where the expectation is very different to the reality.
When one mum bought a pair of veneers online for £3.98, though, she didn’t have high hopes.
Sara Hamilton, 30, from Bolton, Greater Manchester, was unhappy with her smile after they become damaged through sugar decay.
Sara then decided to make the purchase from Amazon – which promised to fix teeth ‘within minutes’ – in a bid to get a Hollywood smile.
Though she expected some disappointment, Sara was won over by the cheap price and some of the 19 testimonials which gave it a 1.5 rating out of five.
When it was delivered however, the veneers left her in hysterics as they were too big for her mouth and she couldn’t even close it.
As well as being comically huge, they were also too white. Though she wasted a few quid on the item, Sara saw the funny side and shared the hilarious snaps with her friends.
She joked that she would only be using the veneers for Halloween.
Sara has type one diabetes and due to it being uncontrolled, her teeth were damaged.
She said: ‘My teeth have been damaged due to my sugars being uncontrolled, which has made me feel self-conscious, so I wanted to get some clip-in veneers for everyday use.
‘They were only cheap so it wasn’t a great loss and the reviews were good, so I thought I may as well try my luck.
‘I just wanted to be able to smile. I was so excited for them to arrive which took a couple of weeks but as soon as I took them out of the package – I burst into laughter.’
The cosmetic teeth, which are advertised as ‘one size fits all veneers’, state how the product is a ‘removable, reusable, temporary smile device.
It also says: ‘If you feel the size of the braces is too large, make the teeth uncomfortable, you can properly shorten the distance between the ends of the braces, use scissors to remove the excess.’
Speaking about when she fitted the veneers, Sara revealed: ‘They were so white and huge – I was in hysterics when I put them in my mouth.’
She added: ‘I couldn’t even close my mouth never mind talk!
‘I shared the photo with my friends who were all laughing too – it was brilliant.
‘It’s safe to say, I won’t be wearing them in public – unless it is Halloween.’
