WHO recipes for a disinfectant proven to be effective

Due to the General shortage of disinfectant solutions that are effective against the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, loosened the Federal government, the regulations for the production of disinfectants. Alcohol manufacturers are now allowed to make alcohol from which pharmacies to recover the funds. Two of the WHO recommended mixtures proved in a current study, as it is effective against SARS-CoV-2.

Researchers from the Ruhr-University of Bochum (RUB) confirmed in a research paper the effectiveness of disinfectant, proposed by the world health organization, WHO, to the destruction of SARS-CoV-2-viruses. One of these formulations may produce pharmacies even. The results were recently presented in the journal “Emerging Infectious Diseases” of the American health authority, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Alcohol-based disinfection solutions to kill SARS-CoV-2

The WHO recommends two formulations for the production of disinfectant solutions to be effective against SARS-CoV-2. A recent study by the RUB confirms this. The alcohol-based agent are effective when used properly against the novel Coronavirus.

An international research team led by Professor Dr. Stephanie Pfänder of the Department of Molecular and Medical Virology of RUB showed that SARS-CoV-2-viruses are sufficiently inactivated when exposed to 30 seconds of the WHO-recommended disinfectant solutions. The effect was mainly based on the main components of Ethanol, or Isopropanol, both of which are alcohols.

Pharmacies are only allowed to implement a recipe

According to the temporary medicine act of pharmacies not manufacture currently expected to be August 2020 disinfectants Isopropanol-based. Thus, the pharmacies are allowed to implement only one of the two recommended WHO formulations.

The recommended recipes the WHO

The Isopropanol solution should be according to the WHO recommendation of 75% by volume of Isopropanol, to 1.45 percent by volume of glycerol and at 0.125% by volume of hydrogen peroxide. The second recommended recipe (which is not allowed to connect to pharmacies) should contain 80 percent by volume of Ethanol, 1.45, the percent by volume of glycerol and 0.125% by volume of hydrogen peroxide.
