Men tend to equate the size of their penis to how masculine they are and how easily they can please sexual partners. More than half of the world’s population has access to the internet and therefore free internet pornography. It’s easy to see why the world is becoming increasingly vain when it comes to genitals, especially penis size. If you’re worried about your own manhood, you probably think it’s smaller than average. So, what is the average penis size?

Sexy social media influencers on Only Fans and Instagram as well as internet porn have put the spotlight on our bodies.

The world seems to be shifting to become more inclusive but won’t budge when it comes to its views on small penises.

It’s not all doom and gloom though, as about 85 percent of people who date men are satisfied with the size and proportions of their partner’s penis.

That doesn’t stop men from feeling self-conscious though, with nearly one in two men believing they have a small penis.

A study based on a survey of more than 50,000 men and women revealed that 45 percent of men would like a larger penis.

The study also found that men with average-sized penises were more concerned about their penis than men with small ones.

Professor Kevan Wylie, a consultant in sexual medicine at the University of Sheffield said: “It may come as a surprise to some young men, but most women have very little interest in the size of their penis and that’s been shown in numerous studies over time.”

He said women are more interested in whether you are “romantic, tender and sensitive to their needs and desires than your penis size.”

It’s difficult to know what is ‘normal’ when you only see your own penis and perhaps the penises of men in porn.

The NHS website acknowledges the pressure men put on themselves when it comes to their downstairs, saying: “Man has always placed great importance on the size of his penis. Many cultures associate penis size with masculinity.

“Throughout the ages, it has come to symbolise qualities such as virility, fertility, strength, ability and courage.”

Not being happy with the size of your penis can damage a man’s self-confidence and impact their social life.

If you feel embarrassed about your penis, you may start to avoid intimate relationships or even using public urinals or shared shower rooms.

What is the average penis size?

Teenage boys are the most likely to get a ruler or tape measure out to find out how long their penis is.

However, we all grow at different rates so there is no average penis size for teenagers.

Every penis is unique and the penis doesn’t stop growing until the age of 21.

Most men have a penis that is about 3.75 inches long when not erect.

You shouldn’t measure your penis when flaccid because the length of a penis that isn’t erect varies a lot. For example, when you are cold or while you are swimming.

You may also feel dissatisfied with your penis because of its angle. The NHS explains: “Some erect penises point straight up, others straight down. Some have a slight bend to the left or right. There is no right shape.

“If you have a more significant bend in your penis that may cause you pain or difficulty having sex, see your GP.”

Research has found the average erect penis size is between five and seven inches. However, the NHS stresses that it is normal for penises to be shorter or longer than this.

A study by The London clinic International Andrology found that the average size in the UK is 6.36 inches.

However, it differs from area to area. For example, in London the average size is 6.51 inches but in Scotland it is 6.45 inches and in Northern Ireland it’s 6.35 inches.

Welsh men seem to have the biggest manhood, with the average size in Wales being 6.56 inches.

Men from the East Midlands have the smallest penises in the UK averaging at 6.11 inches.

Can you increase the size of your penis?

There are plenty of physical treatments that claim to increase penis size, but there is very little evidence that they work.

From pills, lotions and extenders, to vacuum devices, exercises and surgery, companies have found it easy to exploit this insecurity.

Many of these things are unsafe or ineffective, but there are several things that can make you feel better about your penis size.

The NHS recommends trimming your pubic hair and losing weight to avoid covering up your penis and making it look smaller.

Getting fit through exercise and a healthy diet may also make you feel more attractive and improve your self confidence.

You could also try going to counselling to fix the distorted view you have about your body image and learn to place value on other aspects of your personality and body.

Paty Baker from The Boudoir Store said:  Both the NHS and Skyn condoms have conducted past research on this and it turns out the average penis size in the UK is about fiveinches.

“If you think your penis is too small then confidence and communication is key, size has nothing to do with good sex!

“Asking your partner what they would like is a good start, there’s more to sex than just penetration and don’t be afraid to add toys to your sexual adventures.

“Certain positions such as missionary, legs up both give deeper penetration and old faithful doggie style does the same but with a really sexy view!

“There are also tons of products on the market that can help, cock rings can help temporarily and penis extenders do a great job at adding extra length and some even add extra girth as well!”
