The Best Celebrity Quotes on Parenting Fails, Wins, & Losses of 2020
Something we didn’t expect about 2020 (lol did we really expect anything that happened this year though?) was the fact that sometimes, regular parents like us had more in common with celebrity parents than we did with our childless friends. All parents went through the everyday struggles of having and raising children, plus homeschooling, quarantine, this country’s reawakening to systemic racism, and election anxiety together. Sure, they had second homes in which to stay, money for round-the-clock childcare, and probably access to some elite channels to get a vaccine, but it was a tough year for them, too!
As we do in “normal” years, we enjoyed living vicariously through our favorite actors, musicians, royals, and politicians in 2020. But it was also really comforting whenever they dropped their guard a little and shared what they were going through. Whether it was Pink revealing her COVID-19 battle, or heartfelt essays from Meghan Markle and Chrissy Teigen about pregnancy loss, we found solace and solidarity in their words.
We also needed to laugh and feel hope this year, and many of our favorite famous parents were also happy to oblige. We saw Reese Witherspoon and Kristen Bell sharing their homeschooling fails, and Kailyn Lowry recalling her kids walking in on her having sex. It’s such a relief to hear about these imperfections, knowing we’ve been through the same or might be.
Maybe in 2021, we’ll get to see more of these stars glammed up on the red carpets. But right now, as we toss 2020 in the trash heap, these quotes from celebrity moms and dads being regular moms and dads are exactly what the telemedicine doctor ordered.
