Sarah Hyland Gets Real About Kegel Routines on Her New Show ‘Lady Parts’
Sarah Hyland wants make conversations about “Lady Parts” more mainstream with her new show.
The Modern Family alum, 29, will host celebrity OB/GYN Dr. Sherry Ross along with plenty of stars, including Hilary Duff, Ashley Benson and Camila Alves McConaughey, for frank discussions about female sex and health.
It’s “a show that helps women get to know themselves and their bodies a little better,” Hyland says in this exclusive clip from the second episode of "Lady Parts," airing Wednesday on EllenTube.
“Let’s face it — vaginas can be confusing! We were just handed these things one day, and there was no instruction manual included. It’s like handing someone an old clock radio and saying, ‘I don’t know, sometimes it’ll make noises and stuff but it works. Honestly, what the hell is going on down there?”
For the second episode, Hyland and and Ross chat with rapper Saweetie and The Real host Adrienne Bailon-Houghton all about Kegel exercises.
After Hyland asks Ross for a Kegel routine, the OB/GYN recommends one for their next trip to the bathroom.
“The easiest way to identify your Kegels is while you’re peeing, you start the flow, you hold it for 3 to 5 seconds — one-one thousand, two-one thousand — let the flow go a little more, hold it 3 to 5 seconds. And you ideally want to do five reps of ten, you want to do 50 a day,” Ross tells the wide-eyed group. “That’s going to be the best thing. Sarah’s doing it, I’m doing it, we all could probably do ten reps right now.”
Bailon-Houghton says that she has an easy tell when she’s doing Kegel exercises.
“I feel like my shoulders come up when I’m doing it, like I look stiff,” she says.
Hyland encourages her to accept that shoulder movement and turn it into a dance — Fosse hands and all.
“Your vagina dance makes your shoulder dance happy,” she jokes.
