Across the summer the daytime show has had a plethora of hosts from old time favourites Eamonn and Ruth, to bombshell Rochelle Humes. Yet Vernon was nowhere to be seen after having to pull out of his hosting duties- not only on ITV but on the BBC Radio 2 show where he was meant to be covering Steve Wright’s afternoon slot.
Now, instead of filling in on both shows, Vernon is having to isolate at home.
“I’m absolutely gutted that because of a positive Covid test I’m no longer able to present on This Morning next week with Rochelle nor do Radio 2 guest hosting and Steve Wright’s cover, two iconic shows which I’ve been a fan of for decades,” he said talking to The Sun.
Instead, Eamonn Holmes will appear alongside Rochelle Humes for the rest of the week until Holly and Phil reclaim the sofa on September 6.
The sickness bug didn’t travel far with Alison Hammond also off due to sickness, the cause of hers however is unknown.
Vernon took a break from our screens until his appearance on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here last year.
However, the gruelling three-week experience took its toll on the former Family Fortunes presenter.
Revealing to his 1.1 million Twitter followers on his exit from the show he said he was “b****y shattered.”
Re-adjusting to a sense of normality took longer than expected for the star, who also lost two stone whilst in there.
Due to this, wife and Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly told fans how she is making two dinners for her husband in an attempt of “feeding [him] up.”
As well as weight loss Vernon also suffered from exhaustion, both physically and emotionally.
So much so that he was brought to tears.
Although tiredness is a common feeling felt by us all, exhaustion is defined as a state of extremely physical or mental tiredness.
It can interfere with your daily routine and also be brought on by other health conditions.
Web MD suggests that reasons for fatigue include:
- Alcohol or drug use
- Too much physical activity with no rest
- Jet lag disorder
- Lack of physical activity
- Shortage of sleep
- Some medications, like cough medicines or antihistamines
- Unhealthy eating habits.
Although treatable, exhaustion can become a cause of concern if it is persistent.
If accompanied by an inability to complete an activity or accidentally falling asleep when driving or operating heavy machinery it is time to book an appointment with your GP.
Treatments include changing sleeping habits, dietary changes and physical changes such as exercising for at least 15 minutes a day.
Psychotherapy is also on offer to discuss underlying causes and stressors in your life that are causing exhaustion or anxiety that could accompany it.
